I met Meme for the first time in ages yesterday, since she went to Pa to apprentice in art forgery or something. And she told me her brother had died from a skiing accident in Heavenly, the same resort where Sonny Bono died. In fact, on the same run. He’d got new skis optimised for downhill speed and ended up going over a cliff edge and landing head first. His helmet wasn’t enough to save him. He lingered for several weeks, completely paralyzed, until he finally died. Poor guy. Poor Meme. I am definitely going to be more careful.
So my site has been up and down for a few days because some fucker’s attacking with some lamo DDOS SYN Flood.
Restructured some things, managed to ameliorate things a little. Ordered some spiffy new Zywall 10 router with stateful packet inspection that should clear things up a bit.
All this re-arranging led me to try to optimise the bandwidth usage as well, so I got the streaming media servers up and running. I did MonkeyBoy as a test, and even re-encoded it for modems. Of course it doesn’t actually work properly, but I live in hope…
It seems that now I have all the tools I need to run a fully functioning porn site. That wasn’t too difficult at all. I’ll go polish the webcams next…

The documents show that the training camps, which the Bush administration has described as factories churning out terrorists, were instead focused largely on creating an army to support the Taliban, which was waging a long ground war against the Northern Alliance … “The vast majority of them were cannon fodder,” a United States government official said.
I guess overstating the abilities of your enemy in advance is necessary when you outmatch them so completely in conventional terms. During the Gulf War we heard endless discussion of how badass the Iraqi crack troops were, but in the end they were so shell-schocked and terrified, cowering, that the US just buried them using bulldozers and that was the end of that.
