Noted radical activist for The Old Iron Dream, Jerry Pournelle, has died. He was a pioneer of word processing in fiction. Rather fittingly, his final blog entry from last Thursday suggested a “Service Guarantees Citizenship” solution to the politically broken U.S. immigration policy. I think The Mote in God’s Eye was by far his best book, and the racist/speciest sub-type tropes were only about as offensive as those of Star Wars or Star Trek.
