So buried within this rather bloodthirsty article<\/a>, I noticed an interesting aside. Task Force 20, the Pentagon’s assassination squad in Iraq that’s going around doing the drive-by shootings and random hits<\/a> on “suspected” buildings and vehicles are not wearing military insignia of any kind. Are they US combat troops? Are they mercenaries? Why are they not wearing their military uniforms, and how does their illegal assumption of civilian status affect the frequency and recent enthusiasm of Iraqi resistance fighters for targetting Western “civilians” within Iraq<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Special forces from the secretive Saddam-hunting unit Task Force 20 would also certainly be present, officers say. These are the stubbly, tough men in scruffy civilian clothes who show up from time to time in barracks around Tikrit, saying nothing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
