{"id":2443,"date":"2006-05-23T17:31:00","date_gmt":"2006-05-23T21:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.meehawl.com\/Blogfiles-wp\/?p=2443"},"modified":"2006-05-23T17:31:00","modified_gmt":"2006-05-23T21:31:00","slug":"tripping-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meehawl.com\/Blogfiles\/2006\/05\/23\/17\/31\/tripping-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Tripping Out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I read in passing a typical urban myth concerning LSD, something to do with &#8220;rival LSD gangs&#8221; dosing each other.<\/p>\n<p><em>they give them waaay too much liquid LSD, enough to <strong>permanently <\/strong>remove them from anything resembling reality.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Most <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/entrez\/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&#038;db=pubmed&#038;dopt=Abstract&#038;list_uids=4862277&#038;query_hl=2&#038;itool=pubmed_docsum\" title=\"Unfavourable reactions to LSD: a review and analysis of the available case reports\">adverse LSD reactions resolve within 48 hours<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>During <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/entrez\/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&#038;db=pubmed&#038;dopt=Abstract&#038;list_uids=1149410&#038;query_hl=4&#038;itool=pubmed_docsum\" title=\"Coma, hyperthermia, and bleeding associated with massive LSD overdose, a report of eight cases.\">one notable incident<\/a>, eight partygoers assumed that a basin of white powdered anhydrous LSD was cocaine and ingested it nasally and orally, inhaling massive amounts of LSD (ie, up to several hundred times a typical recreational amount). Five went into coma and suffered vomiting, fever, and mild internal bleeding. Their serum LSD was 2.1-26 ng\/ml, with 1000-7000 micrograms\/100ml stomach contents. No psychological or physical abnormalities were noted a year later during a follow-up exam.
