{"id":2796,"date":"2007-11-03T15:07:12","date_gmt":"2007-11-03T23:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.meehawl.com\/Blogfiles\/2007\/11\/03\/15\/07\/cultural-depictions-of-joan-of-arc\/"},"modified":"2007-11-03T15:08:40","modified_gmt":"2007-11-03T23:08:40","slug":"cultural-depictions-of-joan-of-arc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meehawl.com\/Blogfiles\/2007\/11\/03\/15\/07\/cultural-depictions-of-joan-of-arc\/","title":{"rendered":"Cultural Depictions of Joan of Arc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was inspired by yesterday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meehawl.com\/Blogfiles\/2007\/11\/01\/16\/26\/condom-dentata\/\" target=\"_blank\">entry<\/a> to add this little pearl of wisdom to Wikipedia&#8217;s entry for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cultural_depictions_of_Joan_of_Arc#Literature_and_theatre\" target=\"_blank\">Cultural Depictions of Joan of Arc<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=nb_ss_b\/103-2025953-6351863?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&amp;field-keywords=philip+jose+farmer+image+beast&amp;x=0&amp;y=0&amp;linkCode=qs&amp;tag=meehawl-20\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Herald Childe<\/em> or <em>Image of the Beast<\/em><\/a> novel sequence by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pjfarmer.com\/childe.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Philip Jos\u00c3\u00a9 Farmer<\/a>, one of the shape-shifting alien sexual predators is Joan of Arc, now living with the 15th-century serial killer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotten.com\/library\/bio\/historical\/gilles-de-rais\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gilles de Rais<\/a> buried within her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meehawl.com\/Blogfiles\/2002\/02\/04\/19\/46\/tampona-dentata\/\" target=\"_blank\">vagina dentata<\/a> as a fang-toothed venomous snake that bites and paralyses men during intercourse, prior to sodomising them and then eating them alive from the inside out.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I wonder how long it will take the dittohead mob that infest Wikipedia to delete it as &#8220;non notable&#8221; or &#8220;trivial&#8221;, or whatever else it is that is used as an excuse for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_minor_Star_Wars_characters\" target=\"_blank\">obscure &#8220;knowledge&#8221; not explicitly related to Star Wars<\/a>.  Farmer&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/1902197240\/ref=nosim\/meehawl-20\" target=\"_blank\">book<\/a> is, of course, incredible.
