Given Bush&#8217;s disdain for all multilateral treaties, it&#8217;s surely no surprise that he seems to regard the Geneva Conventions as useless as well.<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/afghanistan\/comment\/story\/0,11447,635167,00.html\">The US cannot go into conflict against its enemies and label them &#8220;unlawful combatants&#8221; to excuse it from playing by the rules &#8211; because if it does, so will many others.
