Sad stories of child abuse are unfortunately too common, but sometimes the staggering duplicititous mendacity of some abusers takes my breath away.

A 75-year-old city man was arrested Wednesday on charges of impregnating a 10-year-old girl he met at his senior center [he] admitted having sex on several occasions with the girl, but claimed she had enticed him … [she] is six months pregnant … [he met her] through an “Adopt-a-Godfather” program at the housing complex … he said he never forced the girl to have sex with him … he bought her clothes and gifts, and she repaid him with sex.

This is wrong in so many ways. She claims she awoke to find him raping her. Even if his account was true, he incontrovertibly had sex with a seriously minor, and furthermore, if his account is true she has already been unduly sexualised through some prior abuse. So now instead of one abuser we have two abusers.
