The Street Dogs of Baghdad
Fisk reports that dirty bullets were being used on Baghdad buildings – if that’s true then it’s shocking that radiological warfare is being used within densely populated urban environments and not directed against armour – the classic “reason” for using depleted uranium. Anyway, apparently it pays to watch what the street dogs…
I don’t know what it is about the street dogs of Baghdad, but they always know when the bombers are returning. Is there some change in air pressure, some high technological decibel that we humans can’t hear? The dogs always get it right. Every time they start baying, you know that the bombers are coming back. And they yelped and barked as night fell last night. And within 15 minutes, even we humans could hear the rumble of explosions from southern Baghdad.
The link to dirty bullets does not go to Fisk and does not talk about dirty bullets.
I don’t understand why you refer to these as ‘dirty bullets.’
Depleted uranium is not radioactive. It is a heavy metal. Like other heavy metals, it’s only toxic to humans if it is ingested in sufficient quantities. It’s elemental properties are similar to lead (although it is more dense).
Dude, it’s a poisonous substance that causes more nausea than lead. Furtthermore, when used in battle it aeresolizes into a radioactive cloud of particulate matter that can drift miles downwind. Dirty bullets, radiological war.
