One estimate for how much (in financial terms, the human cost is of course incalculable… unless you’re one of those military types who thinks of people as “soft targets” or “collateral damage”) the WTC attacks cost is “A payoff of more than half a trillion dollars for terrorists whose all-in costs were trivial by comparison.”
