Zombies and Chocolate

Microsoft deflects charges of worm woes

Do their PR flacks dole out sexual favours and chocolate? How do they keep dodging MS’s responsibility for causing so many zillions of dollars of grief and sleepless nights for sysadmins?

Good grief! It really is amazing how MS’s crappy security and web server code has been responsible for so much of the sludge and dreck that has slowed the net over the last few months. (Disclaimer, this site runs on IIS so maybe you’ve already been infected by now? Don’t blame me, blame MS!). 95% of the hits I am getting right now are from multiple copies of Code Red and NIMDA that have zombied poor hapless DSL user’s machines.

These “Internet Worms” are really “Microsoft Worms”. Goddam. Cringely puts it better than me, with a nice conspiracy theory that MS are using this to discredit the Internet’s open standards and replace it with something more proiprietary, and hence more “secure”. Marvel, anyone?
