Georgia Pipeline Breaks Ground, US Troop Deployments Growing
Posted on September 19th, 2002 by mike
I note that a new transcaucasus pipeline project runs through Georgia. How convenient it is, then, that US troops deployed there several months ago. Regional commentators are already flagging an increasing US involvement in the region. I noted as much last February, and I wasn’t the only one. It seems Georgia is the very model of a modern corporatist State, and its nationalistic fervour ensures it’s aligning its energy production infrastructure with the US, instead of the Russians. They are even threatening to bomb this latest pipeline.
