I found this an interesting, if tedious, read. Unidentified elements within the Bush Gang are redacting huge chunks of the joint congressional report on the airplane attacks on the Pentagon and the WTC. Much of it is being classified, and in some cases, publicly disseminated information is being re-classified. Some people say it’s to forestall any more accusations that the Bush Gang deliberately overlooked Bin Laden’s activies in the pre-September 2001 timeframe, and de-emphasized investigations of dodgy Gulf financial dealings. Some of the Senators who prepared the report want more disclosure, but some of them are Presidential candidates and naturally want more ammunition of possible Bush dereliction of duty.
The report was completed last December; only a bare-bones list of �findings� with virtually no details was made public. But nearly six months later, a “working group” of Bush administration intelligence officials assigned to review the document has taken a hard line against further public disclosure. By refusing to declassify many of its most significant conclusions, the administration has essentially thwarted congressional plans to release the report by the end of this month … the Bush administration isn�t protecting legitimate issues of national security but information that could be a political “embarrassment,” the aide said. Graham, who last year served as Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, recently told NEWSWEEK: “There has been a cover-up of this.”
