Poverty Causes Substance Abuse

Dangerous stuff, claiming that poverty causes substance abuse… But that’s exactly what this study of monkey hierarchies shows. And incredibly enough, “environmental enrichment” seems to make monkeys less likely to become substance-dependent. I wonder if a three-strikes punishment rule would work for monkeys as well as it seems, evidently, to have worked for people?
