Buried With His Chocolate Bar

So these two Palestinian kids were out buying a chocolate bar, except that it was during a curfew, and an Israeli tank shelled them. I’ve always thought the term “curfew” was odd — it’s usually reported on US news as a “calming” or “normalizing” procedure. Hell, here they even have towns with “teenager curfews”. But basically it means that during certain hours due process and habeus corpus is suspended and the military can erase you or kill you without any reason or without specific orders from superiors. I recall that during final terrorist war against British Rule in Ireland in the early 1920s, it was the counterproductive imposition of a draconian curfew by the British Army that finally swayed much of the population behind Michael Collins and his band of “irregulars”.

Interestingly, I note that Dublin, Ohio, has specific curfews for teenagers. Scared of revolt?
