Iraq Blowback

I’ve said it before… the main reason the US has it in for the little tinpot mustache guy is because Saddam’s one of their ex-favourite Hard Man Stooges that had the temerity to deviate from the script. This sets a bad example to other, obediant dictators and so that’s why the US is so determined to stomp him mightily.

I was therefore less than surprised to read that, according to Newsweek, a shadowy US Government-backed company shipped nasty bugs and bioweapon cultures to Iraq during the 80s, when Saddam was obediantly stomping on Iran at the behest of the Reagan Administration. Iraq used these engineered germs to kickstart its bioweapons program, the same program the US is now claiming as a threat to world peace. Of course, the US is the largest manufacturer of such bioweapons, in breach of UN accords, and the Bush Gang recently deliberately wrecked a stronger UN random bioweapons inspection treaty for fear that the UN might send inspectors to some unsavoury, classified, and deliberately secretive locations within the US.

I like your reasoning for why Bush & Co. want to stomp on Saddam, but I believe Saddam is just a smoke screen. He’s a convinient excuse for the US to move into Iraq, which is their intention — regardless of whether Saddam is in power or not.

I agree that they want to be there for the oil, but the sheer vindictive virulence of their passion against Saddam — even in the face of negative CIA assessments of his threat level — seem to border on psychosis. I think this time it’s personal!
