Hairy Ears

I finally discovered why it is that as I grow older I have increasingly hairy ears: the locus for the hair earlobe gene is carried only on the Y portion of the 23rd chromosome. Actually, it’s a bit more complicated than that and not strictly Y-linked, but results from an interaction between homologous and non-homologous portions of the 23rd chromosome. Either way, it boils down to this: as I grow older, I can expect to find more and more hair there. I am still wondering what the evolutionary pressure is for hairy ears in men.
