Red Cross? Sounds Like Commies To Me!

Despite repeatedly notifying the Pentagon of the location of its camps, flying their flags, and painting huge red crosses on its rooves, the Red Cross was bombed by the US for a second time. It wasn’t stray bombs either, the Red Cross was “deliberately targeted”.

I suppose it’s no real surprise that the Pentagon dislikes the Red Cross. After all, they try to enforce those pesky Geneva Conventions against harming civilians. They are the last aid agency to remain in Afghanistan in probably vain attempts to fight off the impending starvation of millions. They act as intermediaries between the Taliban and the Northern Alliance, facilitating medical and diplomatic exchanges. They give aid to any who ask for it.

In fact, the US military has always disliked the Red Cross. In the Nicaraguan War, the White House used fake Red Cross markings on planes and trucks to transport its terrorist armies in and around that beleagured country. Maybe they justify to themselves that the Taliban might be as devious and criminal, and are choosing to shoot first?
